Sthapatya Veda: the Science of Vastu

"We shape our homes…and our homes shape us” (Sir Winston Churchill)

Vastu Shilpa Shastra, the ancient science and the art of designing and constructing buildings in harmony with the laws of nature, finds its origin in Sthapatya Veda, which in turn is a part of Atharva Veda, one of the four Vedas.

Vastu Shastra is universal in its application. It is not confined to any particular group of people. It enhances the development of all human beings, and its timeless principles, by working in accordance with fundamental laws of nature, can operate in any culture, climate, geographical? location and do not depend on any religious or political beliefs.

In recent years, and particularly in India, there has been a major revival of interest in homes and public building spaces constructed in ways that have been shown to be much more conducive to the happiness, success and well being of the occupants. While Feng Shui has made become virtually a household name today, Sthapatya Veda - the most ancient system of architecture, from which other ancient and modern systems, including Feng Shui, grew – is beginning to get the attention of architects, developers and home owners the world over.
